Definitely recommend it, but I just wish Epson made a protective carry case for it (which is what brought me to this site today). I thought this was an expensive scanner-I could have bought an Epson printer all-in-one with a scanner for a fraction of the price-but something told me to go for the portability and I am so glad I did. No way this would have been possible without a portable scanner which could be powered as a peripheral via the USB cable. nd the photos needed to be removed and then immediately replaced to keep the albums intact. The storage facility did not have any power outlets a. I literally installed the software while sitting it in my rental car outside the store where I purchased it, drove to a storage facility where dozens of albums containing a lifetime of memories were stored, and scanned in hundreds of photos over the next 4 hours. My father passed away recently, and I flew into town for the funeral and bought this at an office store neat the airport so I could scan in old photos for a slideshow at his wake.
